Onya Soapbox

"In 2005 a partnership was established between the Headroom Project auspiced by the Children Youth and Women’s Health Service and Onya Soapbox to develop and stage the inaugural My Happiness Exhibition. This initiative was designed to raise awareness about young people’s mental health as well as a fundraising event with the proceeds of live and silent auctions going to the Headroom Project to support arts activities for young people. The My Happiness Exhibition was held in June 2006.

Onya Soapbox provided staff and co-ordinated all aspects of planning, staging and finalising the event. From our perspective, the event was efficiently and effectively managed. In working with Onya Soapbox we particularly valued:

  • The Project coordinator actively consulting, liaising and keeping us informed of all stages of the event and seeking our input to develop and target publicity strategies. This ensured that through the My Happiness exhibition important information about young people and mental health was conveyed to the general and arts supporting public.

  • Onya Soapbox staff resourcefulness and extensive networking skills that secured the donation of over 80 pieces of artwork and the support of a number of performers, artists and entertainers. They also secured significant in-kind sponsorship for the venue, printing, website, refreshments and prizes associated with the event.

Working with Onya Soapbox on the My Happiness Exhibition has been a highly successful and worthwhile collaboration not only because of the fundraising outcome achieved but in providing the opportunity for us to work with a highly professional, community-minded management company and staff team. It was an event that was very well received by the artists, entertainers and sponsors who contributed to the event as well as the audience in attendance.

Planning for the 2007 My Happiness Exhibition is well underway and we have every confidence that Onya Soapbox will manage the event in a professional manner. We believe that Onya Soapbox has established a solid foundation for the event and we can only see the My Happiness Exhibition growing from strength to strength as a fundraiser and community awareness raising campaign to support the Headroom Project and promote the positive mental health and young people."

Beajaye Wright – Headroom

'Ndulge

"We had 'Ndulge play at my husband’s Birthday recently. What a great band! Really professional yet relaxed and played terrific music. Jacqui spent time finding out what the crowd was like and the type of function. The music was perfect for the occasion and they played all the favorites. Great performers and lovely people. Would highly recommend."
Jacqui Lowe

Abby Edwards

"Abby Edwards is inspired by what she calls "the genetic manager" inside her. Her management skills are inherited from her parents, both entrepreneurs who run their own companies. "I watched the challenges, successes and mistakes they've made," Edwards says.

At 30, she runs two businesses - Onya Soapbox, which represents high-profile personalities, and Brave New Media, a multimedia and communications business. In 2004, she received a Young Achiever Award from Awards Australia for her efforts. Edwards believes female managers have special qualities. "Sometimes women are criticised for (their) emotional side, but if you ask staff what they appreciate about females in management it is that they have a more rounded technique in dealing with staff problems and they are more approachable."

Six years ago, she formed Onya Soapbox and has overseen the growth of the client list from about 30 to more than 1000. "My life has been a combination of what I know and who I know," Edwards says. Her management style is "instinctual" and ethical. Edwards hires people who are not afraid to be passionate. "I don't want my staff to hate me or love me - I just want them to respect me for what I do."
"25 Women in Management" - Management Today - March 2008

“What makes Onya Soapbox unique from other management companies is that you are treated as a person rather than just a number. The personal touches and attention you receive from Onya Soapbox makes you feel special and you know that you are never going to be a forgotten client. I couldn't be happier with the service and support that I receive from them.”
Rachael Sporn - Former Australian Opals and Adelaide Lightning Basketball Captain

“I have known Abby Edwards for the past 18 months. Abby’s dynamic nature is a function of her engaging personality. One of South Australia’s most successful young entrepreneurs, Abby has an impressive track-record steeped in both creativity and astute business acumen.
Abby’s state-of-the-art graphic and web-design company Brave New Media is a paragon of industry excellence, while her rapidly expanding talent management and team-building enterprise, Onya Soapbox consistently champions and advances the cause of Australian talent and Australian business interests.”
Nic Nolan - Program Director, FIVEaa

“Abby’s extensive knowledge of the entertainment industry and her ability to source the right talent at the right price through her network of great contacts helped ensure the success of the 2005 King William Road Street Party. Abby’s dedication to our requirements and forward-thinking approach has resulted in Michels Warren developing a strong loyalty to Abby and Onya Soapbox.”
Kate Moffatt - Michels Warren

“I have worked with/for Abby Edwards on a number of different events/projects over the last 3 to 4 years and have always found her to be incredibly professional, supportive and fun.”
Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann - SAFM Breakfast Presenter and Panelist on ‘Before the Game’

“As a musician I have experienced the utmost in creative, technical and operational support from Abby. Her willingness to assist me is often overwhelming, and her interest in my well being is incredibly encouraging. Above all she is committed to this way of conducting her business 24 hours a day 7 days a week.”
Emily Davis – Musician

Alyce Platt

"Alyce, Jeremy, Pete et al were fantastic. They played more than required and were a big hit with the 20 - 60 year age cross section. Our 500 guests were entertained and danced off their feet."
Andrew Gill – Managing Director, Perform Arts Pty Ltd

“Alyce Platt put on an excellent show. . . She is one of the best I have come across in the industry”
Heather Clarke – Artistic Director, Allegro Music

“Congratulations to the Alyce Platt Band who performed last night to 1000 guests at Crown for the Committee for Melbourne Dinner. They were absolutely fantastic. Just the right band for the right evening. Everybody loved the music and Alyce herself was delightful. I am really looking forward to booking them again for a similar evening.”
Sarah Bernard - Sarah Bernard Event Management

Amanda Blair

“Amanda was fabulous and just made for the role! As a comic mother she had our audience in fits of laughter but was also wonderful and relating to the challenges of parenting that everyone seemed to identify with. Amanda provided some really great and sometimes personal insights into her life and the combination of Amanda and the Supernanny made the event completely interactive which is what we were hoping to achieve. Thanks for recommending her to us! Once again, its been very easy to work with you Abby – so thank you.”
Marteine Edwards – Westfield Shopping Centres

Andrew 'Cosi' Costello

“I would like to pass on a huge "Thank you" from CPA Australia for your excellent presentation last night.  You went well over and above what we usually expect from a speaker - making an effort to mingle with the crowd and making a point of saying goodbye to each person at the end of the night. You are a true professional! After last night’s session, I feel that we are in a great position to make a success of it (a regular event) here in Adelaide - and a lot of the credit goes to you!  The feedback I have received from the members this morning has been fantastic.”
Emily Jerome - Event Coordinator – CPA Australia Ltd

"Very professional, got the crowd pumping, excellent MC! He did everything he was asked and had a great rapport with the crowd. Overall, very happy - Cosi would be a definite consideration for 2006."
Shane Shepherd - Project Coordinator: Encounter Youth - Schoolies Week

Ann Vriend (Canada)

“From the first track, Vriend showcases her range and playfulness.  The rest of the songs focus on one or more ways for her to sing the story of a former spy.  Wow!  This better be good.  Thankfully, it is.  The emotional ups and downs sung from Vriend’s perspective keep your ears attentive, always looking for the next tune.  Her black hair, pin-up beauty and spy fashion—all black with briefcase and gun—add to ‘When We Were Spies’’ polish and catchy musical finesse… Excellent music.  Great Stuff.”
Scene and Heard

“Ann Vriend drives me nuts; how can music be this good and she's not plastered on billboards from L.A. to N.Y.?? “Spies” is a complex album full of subtleties wrapped in memorable tunes…. Vriend is an exceptionally talented artist.”
AnE Vibe

“This is one well-kept secret everyone should have access to.”
Pop Matters

“With her soaring vocals, impressive songwriting ability, and multi-instrumental prowess, Vriend is truly an all-in-one package.”
Obscure Sound (February, 2008)

Anthony Byrnes

"I would like to take this opportunity of expressing a sincere 'thank you' for your presentation to our team at its Awards Function on 3rd February last. Real estate is an industry where management and sales personnel are constantly participating in 'industry speak' sessions, and it is refreshing and encouraging to hear from individuals, such as yourself, who have been confronted with life hurdles, overcome the obstacles, and moved on to achieve other goals. Your time with us was brief, however your personal story is one of great courage, inspiration and perserverance and left a positive, 'can do' impact on our audience. On behalf of the Elders Franchise Real Estate team I thank you sincerely and wish you every success and fulfilment in the future."
Denis Breuer, Franchise Manager SA/NT, Elders Real Estate

"Anthony had a very well presented, informative and inspirational presentation about his chosen career. He vividly described his exciting and life altering experiences, including, trials and triumphs encountered along the way. Many simple life lessons were directed towards the cadets. It appears that Anthony has the interest of the Australian youth at heart, and shares his experiences in order that they may be more aware and better prepared for what lies ahead.I have no hesitation in recommending Anthony to be a motivational speaker for any group or organization."
S. Buscumb CPL(AAFC) WQD, 613 Squadron, Australian Air Force Cadets

"Anthony Byrnes was guest speaker at the Women's and Children's Hospital Wallaroo Auxiliary morning tea fund raiser and proved to be a very interesting and informative speaker who kept the audience entertained and amused. There was an excellent response to question time and the feed back from audience members regarding their enjoyment of the morning was very good. The story of how Anthony became a helicopter pilot was both inspirational and moving. I would have no hesitation in recommending Anthony as a guest speaker."
Ruth Shields, Women's and Childrens Hospital Wallaroo

"The 605 Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets really appreciated your excellent presentation on the 19th November. Your inspiring performance was entertaining, informative and motivational for our youth. You gave them interesting lessons in perseverance and self esteem. Thank you for your efforts on our behalf, we greatly appreciated your visit. Hopefully we may be able to listen to you again in the future."
Steve Russell FLGOFF{AAFC) Commanding Officer, 605 Squadron, Australian Air Force Cadets

"For 45mins the children and teachers were spell-bound by Anthony's stories of triumph as he recalled passing his helicopter pilot exams; of elation as he got his first job; of anguish as he relived the horrors of attending road accident sites; of heartache and joy as his family circumstances changed; and hope in believing in what your destiny has in store. I would predict that any person aged 12 couldn't help but be touched, moved and inspired by spending an hour with Anthony Byrnes. His excellent use of PowerPoint added an enjoyable extra dimension to his presentation."
Kathryn Goodall, Year 6 Teacher - Westminster Preparatory School.

Anthony Clarke

“I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your time and effort during the Clipsal Contractor Trip last week. It was an absolute pleasure to not only meet you, but to hear the stories you had to share and advice you had to give. It’s truly a remarkable life's journey that you have travelled on thus far and I believe that the lessons learned from your presentation were invaluable to our audience. We received nothing but positive feedback from our guests who thoroughly enjoyed the experience with you, most notably your sense of humour, mental strength and certainly the demonstrations. I felt it was only appropriate to relay this information back to you. I would personally like to thank you for the photos you allowed me to take with you and your medals, as it is something that I will certainly treasure.

We at Clipsal wish you all the best in your future endeavours, especially the 2008 Olympic Games which we understand will be your last. We have no doubt that you will take the Gold for Australia. I can assure you that you are greatly respected and admired within the Clipsal organisation and we hope to see you again soon at another one of our functions in the near future. Thank you once again Anthony and the team at Onya Soapbox for making this an enjoyable experience for all involved.”
Marcus Capaldo - National Contractor Coordinator, Clipsal Communications

"The feed back we received about your performance was outstanding and again we thank you for making the time available to support our club. On behalf of all at Port Adelaide Football Club we wish you all the best in the future and we look forward to your continued support."
Brian Cunningham - Chief Executive Port Adelaide Football Club

"The humour and manner with which Anthony discussed his accident and subsequent lifestyle had the audience quickly at ease. His approach to life as evidenced by his wonderful anecdotes gave many much to laugh about and think about. Anthony was certainly one of the highlights of the Congress. One trade delegate mentioned that he was completely unaware of the time during Anthony's talk, which in the busy lives of these people is a sure indication of the success of the speaker."
Wendy Lacoon - Convention Consultant

"The fact that you held each of your four audience groups captivated illustrates the timelessness and relevance of the messages you delivered. This particular age group is ruthlessly discerning, and highly critical of folk who they perceive as being non-genuine. None of the feedback received at the completion of the conference suggested that your sessions were anything but extremely well accepted. In fact, to a child, when asked to identify the single, most positive thing that would be taken away from the day's programme, the resounding response was "Guest Speaker - Anthony Clarke".  I can only concur with the student population. Your presence, and contributions, were powerful in there impact and have certainly set us all thinking about how we can over come 'negativity of the mind' by focusing on attainable success. Shortly after your visit, one of my students, a leader on the conference day, was hospitalised with a serious, and life threatening, eating disorder. In one of our last conversations at school, she mentioned how determined she had become to beat her illness as a direct result of the inspiration she took from your talk!"
Deb Porter - Highbury Primary School

"On behalf of the year 11 students that you recently inspired while sharing your amazing life, stories, adventures and unexpected achievements I would like to once again thank you for coming. You have given us a new approach to life and showed us that no matter how hard one's life is, one can always make it better. You have given us new challenges in life that none of us dared to do before. You have touched many of us and will always be embedded in our hearts and memories as "An Unlikely Champion Who Inspired Students."
Ljiljana Ilic - Mt. Carmel College

"Anthony Clarke was fantastic and everyone enjoyed listening to him speak. Anthony stayed after his speech and spoke with many of our staff which was so fantastic of him."
Gillian Griffith – BHP Billiton

ARYA

“Please pass on my thanks to the members of ARYA for their two performances at the Myer book launch events. They put on a fantastic show and were a perfect complement to a very classy evening on both occasions. The feedback from our suppliers has been great and we’d thoroughly recommend them for any event.”
Bernie Brookes CEO Myer

Fairfax Community Newspapers

”Absolutely sensational! Everyone had a fabulous evening and would recommend Ben for any event if they are looking for the ‘Wow’ factor.”
Microsoft

”Ben has an amazing ability to capture the essence of a character; how a person looks, talks, walks and feels. He could probably even reproduce how they smell, but that would probably cost extra. Ben doesn’t just impersonate someone, he inhabits them.”
Tom Gleisner - The Panel, Thank God You're Here

”...we've found a replacement for the Channel 9 sports department...Ben can do them all!”
Triple M Radio Melbourne

Billy Bob and the BBQ Boys

"Thank you for providing your high energy, rock a billy, country rock infused, boot scootin', toe tappin', Texas two-steppin' brand of music to the award-winning Brighton Jetty Festival on Sunday, March 13, 2005. Now call me biased as an unashamed country-rock-bluegrass-Man-In-Black-Willie-Waylon-and the boys, Austin, Tx-Tennessee music fanatic - but you guys ROCK! Abby Edwards, from Onya Soapbox, recommended you and I was enthusiastic that a country-style band be included in our entertainment program. The Brighton Jetty Festival is highly regarded in the area and is attended by 35,000 plus visitors; so there was an excellent opportunity for Billy Bob and the BBQ Boys to be exposed to a big audience. You were highly suitable as the finale act on the main stage ending what was a hugely successful festival. And I loved the dog on stage, great touch. I will have no hesitation in booking you again for a similar event as your music and style was enjoyed by a huge and varied crowd, not just the country music brigade. (Whilst no-one comes close to Johnny Cash, your version of Fulsom Prison Blues was a treat). Thank you again for entertaining the crowds at the Brighton Jetty Festival with such enthusiasm and country style; I hope you are able to be exposed to a greater audience - you deserve it."
Penelope Herbert - Co-ordinator of Brighton Jetty Festival

Bob Downe

"THE MAGIC OF THE MAN BEHIND THE MASK -
The Studio, July 1

You could sense Bob Downe watching from the wings: a spiteful understudy devising an unpleasant demise for the star. You see, Downe's creator, Mark Trevorrow, has come out, so to speak, leaving his alter ego supposedly "having a long rest in the country" before he explodes back onto the boards for next year's 20th anniversary tour.

After all this time, however, Downe is inevitably part of the real Trevorrow, and he was periodically spotted in the glint of a smile or an eye.

Trevorrow was in the Studio to sing, but really he is a member of that endangered species, The Entertainer. Ad-libbed jokes, audience interaction, belting vocals, zany dance steps, tender ballads and name-dropping anecdotes all jostled each other, hustling away any chance of a dull moment - even on songs where Downe may have put a hex on Trevorrow's intonation.

The repertoire, being "not really jazz and not really cabaret", we were told, must be "jazzaret", and in the expertise of pianist John Thorn, bassist Brett Hirst and drummer Dave Goodman, Trevorrow had a safety net to let him take some chances.

The musical highlight was a reading of Sondheim's The Ballad of Sweeney Todd, based on an innovative arrangement from Lea Delaria's Play It Cool album. Initially the Miles Davis-like swing feel suggested the breathless tension may have been ironed out of the piece. But it was merely simmering before coming to a sudden, disquieting boil, with Trevorrow in exceptional voice and the band both supple and able to crunch when it mattered.

The success of Anthony Newley's The Joker owed as much to Trevorrow's manic facial expressions as to anything aural. At the other extreme, he was completely convincing on the pretty It's for You (written by Lennon and McCartney for Cilla Black), and even moving on I'll Be Seeing You, dedicated to friends lost to AIDS.

Whether serious or madcap, almost every line was delivered direct to the eyes of an audience member, yet Trevorrow's innate likeability allowed him to do this without any sense of confrontation. Perhaps Downe will let him out more often."

John Shand - July 3 2003

Brad Taylor

"Brad's story was an inspirational to all. His conquest of life’s hurdles gives meaning to hope and truly tell a tale of mental strength. His delivery was entertaining and enthusiastic with great wit as an added extra. Not only do you walk away feeling lucky, you walk away feeling as if you can do anything you put your mind to. I could have listened to Brad for hours."
Kerstin Thuresson - Event & Volunteer Coordinator, The Smith Family

Brazza

"Brazza were absolutely fantastic – had the marquee pumping & lots up people up dancing which was great. They really were the perfect choice for the Beachport Festival – plenty of energy and Christian was leading them so he made it really interactive."
Bronwen Fleming - Beachport Festival Co-ordinator

Brennon Dowrick

“In planning for our national financial planning conference we were looking for a speaker who could demonstrate the principle of ‘practice makes perfect’. When we met Brennon there was no doubt that he was the ideal fit. In telling his story Brennon demonstrates that having the right attitude and a persistent focus can result in achieving the goals you set for yourself. Brennon engaged the audience on his journey to success, allowing them to draw their own comparisons between his experiences and their careers.

Our conference run in 4 locations around Australia and Brennon ensured that his level of energy was consistent and he always made the time to speak to the delegates after his presentations. Brennon was a pleasure to work with and was the most popular speaker at our conference.”
BT Funds Management

“We have received overwhelming feedback from delegates regarding Brennon’s inspirational, motivational and physically challenging presentation. He challenged us to raise the bar in our every day lives to be the best we can be and not accept the mediocre. Brennon performed his gold medal winning pommel horse routine during his presentation, which took our breath away, and he received a standing ovation.

Brennon Dowrick’s presentation was outstanding – without a doubt Brennon is one of the best motivational speakers”
Count Wealth Accountants

“In the fifteen years I have been involved in coordinating our conference I have never received such positive feedback from my Suppliers to as presentation as delivered by Brennon Dowrick. If your conference requires a unique performance that inspires teamwork & passion for excellence the Brennon will exceed your expectations”
IGA

"The feedback from our attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with the majority stating that it was the highlight of their evening. Your presentation instills awe, inspiration and motivation to all."
Leader

"I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation given by Brennon and I took away from his talk, both personally and professionally, the importance an individuals drive/direction has on their lives and those of others. His stories entertained my family and friends as I retold them, however I was unable to replicate his physical exploits no matter how hard I tried!"
Canberra Connect

"…we gave you a brief to motivate, uplift and close our conference on a high and you accomplished this with humour and enthusiasm."
First Choice Financial Services

"What a revelation, one of Australia's finest Olympic Athletes regaled us with stories of personal triumph and disaster before performing his gold medal winning routine on the pommel horse live, before our very eyes - what an unforgettable highlight."
Express Bookkeeping

"Brennon's presentation … touching on the comical as well as the motivational, combined with the integration of the pommel horse demonstration gave him a powerful edge on the attention of the audience … and I would have to say that favorable feedback has by far exceeded any other guest speaker we have had."
The Cobra Group

Cool 4 Kids

“We appreciate that you were prepared to come as many entertainers would feel that our rural centres were too out of the way. The children at both centres thoroughly enjoyed the show. I was pleased to see the way you were able to include all the children and I also liked the way children were dancing, singing and involved throughout… Your teaching background really shows through in the way you deal with young children. Great show! Would love to have you back next year!”
Robyn Girdler - Director C&K Esk and C&K Toogoolawah Kindergartens

“The children are totally focused as soon as Tony walks into the room.  They warm to his big smile and positive energy.”
Cindy Chapman - Director of North East Community Child Care Centre

“Our children really enjoyed the opportunity to come out the front, put on hats and hold all the soft toys.  They had so much fun!”
Melanie Gohl - Director CWL Child Care Centre

Dada Nii Okwabi

"Dada Nii was fantastic. We had a full number of 10 participants (attending his drumming workshop), including some of the African kids from the Library who we are aiming to engage with. Dada held their attention brilliantly, and was successful in introducing them to the basics of African drumming, with great results in a short period of time. Fun was had by all. So thanks to both of you for your help, and a special thanks to Dada."
Joshua Spier, Community Development Officer (Recreation, Arts and Culture), City of West Torrens

Dave O'Neil

"Dave was a big hit on Monday night...our MD loved him!! She whooped it up on the evening (with Dave directing jokes at her) and she has since commented
that she thought he was very funny. Although, she said that she is still getting used to our Aussie humour (she's a New Yorker), so missed some jokes, but still enjoyed it. Overall, a big success. I found Dave to be punctual, prepared and personable. And VERY funny!! We were very happy with his service, and would consider him again for other functions."
Anastasia Yianni - Public Relations Manager - Myer

Dennis Moore

"From the feedback written and verbal, our Katoomba conference was the best one that we have done. By incorporating the FUN aspect into the whole afternoon, it set a mood that staff felt comfortable with. An important aspect of the preparation was your attending a pre-briefing meeting with the committee. You listened, probed and really tried to understand what we do and what we wanted. At the end of the session the committee felt like we had already had a mini inservice and for some of us it began to change the way we can approach training, ideas and life. It was evident on the day that you had taken on board the suggestions made by the committee and included more teambuilding, and more fun. I felt the presentation was well paced with a good mix of audience involvement. The subtle message that you incorporated also worked very well as the staff felt that they weren’t being lectured to. All round the presentation was fun, inspiring and pitched to a level that the staff could take on board. As I mentioned Dennis, we had a few very tough nuts to crack, well give yourself a pat on the back, you did it. The feedback from everyone was most positive and the staff who I thought may not get it came and spoke to me and said how much they enjoyed the afternoon and how clever you were, so well done. Thanks for being involved and hopefully we’ll be using your services in the future."
Susan Hatswell, Manager, Leura Day Options

"Thank you for your contribution to the success of this Association’s 13th National Conference held at the Sheraton Mirage, Port Douglas a few weeks ago. Your presentation to members entitled ‘Making Fun Work’ was interesting, thought provoking and extremely entertaining. More importantly it was light and humorous and just what the doctor ordered with many of our members struggling to recover from the previous full day of conferencing. I must admit that I was a little tentative before the dinner about the prospect of introducing a little comedy into the function but you carried that off like a true professional with each and every one of our 240 people finding your humour very amusing. Thank you again for a great effort, our members enjoyed your involvement immensely!"
Gerard Ryan - Executive Director, Australian Shop & Office Fitting Association

"At our recent event in Canberra our MC, Dennis Moore, captivated the audience with great energy and humour, kept everybody attentive for two days and made the conference more enjoyable for all. His opening keynote had a serious message while setting the tone of fun for the conference. He showed his professionalism by filling in for a session at the finish of the first day when a speaker was unable to make it along. He also facilitated an interactive session on the second day that saw lots of interaction and questions from the attendees. He was a pleasure to deal with and as one of the attendees said in a feedback form, "In a word he’s a showman, with fantastic speaking skills, who was able to engage his audience and keep the conference from being too serious, but also touching on relevant scenarios in the most entertaining ways."
George Sengul - Conference Producer, Liquid Learning Group

Derrick McManus

"Derrick was excellent! The audience feedback was great and they loved his presentation and story. If people could adapt the qualities Derrick discussed in their lives, we would all be much better off. Thankyou for your assistance."
Angelo Mignanelli, Project Manager - Flinders Medical Centre

"Derrick's situation was such that I felt many parallels could be drawn to illustrate goal setting, teamwork, perseverance and determination, training focus and courage. He delivered his talk in a very natural, open and insightful manner. It had a very positive effect on my staff."
Geoff Qurban - State Director - Tmp.worldwide

"If Derrick could conjure up all the will power to endure what he did, and win through, then so can we. This is exactly the commitment we were looking for in our people."
Jeff Boundy - Mitsubishi Motors Australia

"Derrick McManus was very good to deal with leading up to and on the day of the event, he was accessible, easy to talk to and very professional I would recommend him, he is a great communicator with a great story. Speaking personally I though he was one the of best presenters I have seen - I think this is because of his down to earth approach and the unique story and experience."
Rosemary Irons - Capstone Financial Services

DJ Monski Mouse

"Monski Mouse proved a huge hit at the recent AIMIA Awards at the ACC in March. Her style of music, crowd interaction and quirky appearance ensured she was the perfect fit for the AIMIA crowd and the perfect feature for the after party."
Kate Moffatt - Senior Consultant and Manager, Events - Michels Warren (Australian Interactive Media Industry Awards)

Dominique Schwartz

"Dominique Schwartz is an energetic and committed communicator, and puts a great deal of effort into making her presentations interesting and relevant. She is always a pleasure to work with."
Ruth Strother - National Conference Co-ordinator, Halogen Foundation

“Thanks so much for recommending Dominique as a speaker at our Women in Property Lunch. From the moment that she started speaking she had the audience captivated as she took us on a journey of her life and career. We were in fits of laughter as she recounted hair raising tails from her time as a foreign correspondent and just as quickly had our own lives put in perspective hearing about the tragedies of the war and the everyday struggles of people she had met from all over the world. The general consensus was that we could have listened to Dominique speak all day! Down to earth, funny, grounded and worldly hardly begin to describe her! Thanks again."
Jane Carey - Director, Edge Recruitment

"Dominique was accomplished, amazing, brilliant, exceptional, great, gifted, fabulous, fantastic, inspiring, magnificent, radiant, professional, skilful, superb, wonderful and lots, lots more.  We felt very honoured to have had the opportunity to have Dominique as our MC for the event event."
Margret Ryan - Coordinator Cancer Support Programs - The Cancer Council South Australia

Dorinda Hafner

"Dorinda was just the right person to deliver the very important message of cultural diversity to our health professional audience at the 2006 Australian Asthma Conference. Prior to commencing her session on the day, Dorinda said that she was feeling particularly naughty today and that she was going to give our delegates a message that they would not forget. Dorinda shared her personal background and experiences, as well as her many observations of human behavior, where she spoke candidly of some people’s reflection of love and acceptance, while others display cruelty and loathing. Dorinda's messages about cultural diversity are always potent and memorable gems to treasure."
Pamela Lockyer-Scrutton - Chief Executive, Asthma Foundation of SA

"Dorinda Hafner was just the tonic our conference needed. She describes herself as a story-teller and that is exactly what she is, but her stories are relevant to the needs we all have. Her sense of humour and passion for life is absolutely contagious. The audience fell in love with her and fell off their chairs laughing with her. We will definitely be having Dorinda at future conferences."
Des Penny - Proteus Enterprises

Dr Deane W Hutton

"I would like to commend you on your presentation to the Arglye Diamonds leadership team recently. Being an after-dinner speaker, following a long day for conference attendees, and competing with food and wine, is no easy thing.  However you managed to have the audience rapt - and even educated us in the process! The interactive multimedia approach was particularly engaging. Your topics and examples were very apt for an engineering type business, but even more relevant were you comments and role modelling of the importance of storytelling for leaders. You also showed that we must embrace rapid innovation, and we should see this as opportunity, not threat. All the best for 2008.  May the new technology not outstrip your ability to humanise it!"
Alan Tietzel, CEO, Arglye Diamonds

"Thank you for the fantastic presentation you gave at our Business Innovation Cup Award function.  It was a high profile function for our organization and it was important that everything about the event was professional, entertaining and punctual.  Your presentation fit the bill perfectly.  Given that I was the organizer of the event, I am very grateful to you for the entertaining and informative presentation that you gave. I received a lot of feedback after the event saying how much people enjoyed your ‘show;. The material you covered was especially well suited to the innovation theme of the day and you delivered it with great audience interaction, enthusiasm and humour.  Your performance was a major contributor to the success of the function."
David Syme, GM Corporate Sevices, ETSA Utilities (Electricity Trust of South Australia)

"Your address The Foreseeable Future gave us a view of the technological advances made up to now, and extrapolated these into future possibilities. Importantly, you also kept humanity involved by focusing on attitudes we need to adopt if we are to make a foreseeable future happen. Thank you."
John Bevilacqua, National Semiconductor Australia

"I just wanted to say how much the whole junior school enjoyed your Magic of Science show last week.  I have had children coming to talk to me about it ever since.  Thank you for your time, enthusiasm and inspiring students that science is all around us."
Emily Johnston, Head of Science, Tanglin Trust Junior School, Singapore

"Thank you for your contributions to Seven News bulletins.  They’ve fitted the brief perfectly and provided an extra point of interest in our News services.  You have a wonderful knack of simplifying the complicated and communicating effectively."
Terry Plan, News Director, Channel Seven Adelaide

"Great speakers mix expertise, passion for the subject, and engaging delivery. Deane does all three in helping leaders discover wisdom and practical insights from science.  Don’t be blind sighted by scientific innovation; let Deane help you use it to invent the future for your organization."
Terry Paulson, PhD, Psychologist, Speaker on Making Change Work President, International Federation for Professional Speakers 2001/2002

Ed Phillips

“Ed was a terrific MC and added a great deal of value to the night. The audience were very conservative and Ed did a great job in lightening the mood and running the show in a professional manner. We will definitely be using Ed again.”
Dbusiness

Emelia Rusciano

"Emelia was absolutely fantastic as the MC for our World's Greatest Shave. Right from the outset she drew a crowd around the event. She was very professional. We could not have wished to have had a better response. We look forward to possibly having her again next year."
Gavin Lawrence - Manager  Shaver Shop

Emma Dean

“Brisbane artist Emma Dean follows up her highly imaginative and quirky Face Painter EP with her first full length album, Real Life Computer Game.  Teaming up once again with co-producer Ben Stewart, they have given us a masterpiece; no doubt about it. Dean has a way with words and melody that can match Clare Bowditch and Kate Miller-Heidke, and should find herself as important as those two glorious Aussie songwriters.  Dean has best described her musical style by coining her music Elastic Pop Theatre.  It’s dynamic, epic and never sits still for a second.  It flows magnificently, with a torrent of emotions and sounds that will leave you gasping for breath.  There are many elements to this album which will take repeat listens to fully appreciate.  Real Life Computer Game is as fresh and inventive as I had hoped it would be, and easily fits into my top 10 albums of the year so far.”
Kaz Mitchell – Joy FM, 2008

“After a quick intermission the sounds of a computer operating system coming to life can be heard, as each band member is introduced as a piece of a real life computer. This opening gambit has the room buzzing, as Emma Dean triumphantly appears on stage and opens straight into the title track from her debut album and the theme for the night – ‘Real Life Computer Game.’ Performing with a gusto not commonly seen from singer-songwriters these days, Emma instantly has the crowd plastered with smiles as the chirpy piano melody and catchy choral riff has the entire band bouncing on stage. One of Emma’s amazing talents is the fact that she can transition so effortlessly between the piano and violin but still maintain a perfect vocal tone and range, as she proves with tracks such as ‘Henry’ and current single ‘Cocaine.’ ‘Waiting Room’ plays with a Kate Bush feel while still brushing with pop elements to create a lovely track, made even lovelier with the addition of an all-male choir to fill out the chorus lines. The theatre element is obviously present tonight with the recurring theme of the Real Life Computer Game adding drama to an already active performance, but the ever humble Emma makes sure that she takes the time out to thank all that helped make the album possible, before playing the final track of the main set, ‘Get What You Paid For.’ With such a standout performance, though, an encore is inevitable, and she returns to the stage for a heart-wrenching rendition of ‘Falling Solo’ and a fantastic version of Silverchair’s ‘Straight Lines’ that Daniel Johns should be taking note of before his next live butchering of said track. With a lengthy line immediately winding to the merchandise table for copies of Dean’s new album, hopefully this performance will be a stepping stone towards a high-flying career.”
Review: Live @ The Judith Wright Centre 28 June 2008
Time Off, Brisbane, 2-8 July 2008

“...better than anything you’ll hear on the radio....Her gift for performance is clearly on show and watching her skillfully play violin and sing simultaneously is absolutely mesmerising....”
Time Off, 2008

“....her vocal performances match the attitude, never hitting one note when she can soar up and down arpeggios and scales to bring a song to a dramatic conclusion...”
Time Off, 2006

“She is part of the new guard of Generation Y performers who are now lining up to join the A-list of indie artists. Dean clearly feels her music, and the emotion behind her skilful voice makes for an excellent performance. Like many young performers though she wears her influences on her sleeve, and more than once I heard shades of Kate Bush.”
Review by Carolyn Hughes - Women in Voice 15

“Emma Dean who is overwhelmingly delightful, showcasing her polished jazz-pop of varying tempos, tones and themes.”
Review : Emma Dean at The Spiegeltent - July 2006
Rave Magazine, July 2006

“The record echoes Regina Spektor in its flawless exchanges between rock, pop, jazz and folk; at times you’ll be jumping around your lounge (‘Good Song’) and at others you’ll be sharing a revealing glass of wine with the lady herself (‘Too Fat For Ballet’).”
Review: Women in Voice 15 - www.stagediary.com, 2006

“...looks like a princess...but she’s also raw with a great sense of irony and can morph in a second as she sings songs based on her diary…a wild ride.”

Emma Hack

"Emma Hack and model Tegan were a pleasure to have at this event and were a stand out for the hosts, Urbantech Finance. Not only because of Emma’s skills but her down to earth personality made her a pleasure to have as a guest at the event once she had completed the body art. Emma and Tegan visited the tables and talked to guests when the body art was complete which the audience loved."
Sam Cocks - Urbantech Finance CEO

"Emma Hack’s body painting work at an intimate Panasonic @ Work launch event added colour to the room and was a great way to entertain guests "

Emma Race

I write in recommendation of Emma Race. I am the Script Manager at Film Victoria and in overseeing a number of programs, often schedule public events for our client base of filmmakers, to introduce programs and initiatives. One such initiative is the New Feature Writers’ Program. In July 2005 Film Victoria hosted a networking and information seminar for new writers of feature film and short filmmakers. What was critical to us, was communicating information to this sector about our Programs but importantly to create an event that was relaxed yet professional and allowed emerging practitioners to network. The Short Film Fund/New Feature Writers ‘in the loop’ event attracted 180 emerging practitioners. As part of the evening’s program, we engaged the services of Emma Race, to be the MC for the evening. Emma hosted the event, introducing both Film Victoria staff and guests. In addition to this, she hosted the pitching component of the evening and planned and delivered a range of ‘fun’ approaches to networking for these clients.
Emma’s hosting was superb. She was playful, informed, supportive and well structured in her approach. Her freshness and humour was greatly appreciated by the clients and immediately set a tone of friendliness. Emma was also able to MC the evening’s programme on schedule. I highly recommend Emma Race to you in her capacity as a public speaker, host or MC.

Eric Bailey

“As President of an association, it was imperative that the keynote speaker deliver his presentation in conjunction with my message. Eric Bailey’s professionalism was outstanding as he created that overlay, resulting in a product with pure passion. Eric’s stories, his fight as a young man, his persistence towards the goal had all of us on the edge of our seats as he distributed a feeling amongst all of us that “changed” our lives. To listen to my constituents, my 15-year-old son whom I invited, and countless others come up to Eric afterwards and sincerely thank him for the thoughts and course of action instilled, was a true testament of Eric’s ability. He was able to reach through the inhibitions of the business-setting and access what we are all so tentative to show and share. We look forward to bringing Eric back in pursuit of building on what he has started.”
Bill Breault, President & CEO, Breault Industrial Group / Scaffold Industry Association SIA  International

“Action is what Eric believes in and the clear message that he sends in his motivational speeches is, "you have thought enough so get into the action" - implement what you believe in is right! That's how he is different from the many world wide motivational speakers. (I have seen hundreds).”
Dhruva Trivedy – Owner, PERCON

“Eric’s energy, passion, and story is awe-inspiring! As a fellow International professional speaker, Eric is a guy who can make an impact with an audience through his electrifying, authentic and powerful presentation. He knows exactly how to combine substance, style and entertainment keeping the audience fully engaged. After hearing Eric, I had a new sense of urgency to take immediate action to reach my life goals!”
Mitzi Dulan, RD, CSSD - Media Spokesperson, Author, Speaker

“Over ninety five percent of our attendees rated Eric as either 'Exceptional' or 'Very Good' and all stated they would like to have him back to speak. Eric has a powerful message and is energetic in his style.”
Wayne Stephens - President, AMP

“If you want to raise the energy levels of your conference. If you want to finish with a bang. If you want your delegates to walk out feeling pumped, excited and refreshed then Eric Bailey is for you. I have seen Eric a couple of times and his energy, dedication and commitment to his speeches has an impact that people will never forget.”
Richard Klipin CEO, Association of Financial Advisers - Asia Pacific

"Your ability to vary your content, and captivate the audience with your personality, energy, and passion is truly remarkable. As the ex-president of the International Association of Speakers Bureaus and the founder and past owner of FIVE STAR Speakers & Trainers and someone with over 20 years of experience in the speaking industry, I know for sure that you have what it takes to make a big impact and to make meetings memorable. I will be recommending you a lot."

Faulty Towers

“In short, this was a night when tears rolled down faces, sides ached and split, and many a fine lash full of mascara turned into a bad Kiss caricature. Hysterical.  A show not to be missed - truly."
Barfly, Cairns Post

"We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening with Basil, Sybil and Manuel.  Almost choked at one stage because I was laughing so much!  Well done!!  Amazing how they adapted to suit the situation."
Asoki Jayawardhana, Public show audience members - Alexander's Metropolitan Motor Inn

"Please thank all the crew who helped out at the Faulty Towers night for our opening night at Seasons ... we were thrilled with the night and can't wait to organise the next one ... Mildura loved them!!  So thanks and hope to see you all again soon."
Mandy and Andy Williams, Owners "Seasons" Restaurant - Mildura

"This is the 4th time I have seen the show, so certainly am a fan.  I have seen 3 different crews.  A great laugh, and enjoyed by everyone in our group that we have invited each time."
Sandra Hendricks, Public Show audience member - Coffee Club, Mt Gravatt

"We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and thought that the person doing Basil was as close a look-a-like as one could get.  Mannerisms, stance, tonality of voice etc spot on.... The interaction was spot on and I found myself at one stage holding a fire extinguisher for Basil.  We laughed and laughed and appreciated the sort of sub-plots entwined.... In all a great night's entertainment."
Barry Moore, Guest at St Pauls on Leichhardt Public show

"The Faulty Towers show was Terrific!!!  Everyone had a great laugh and really got into the show.  The actors were excellent, ad-libbing as they went.  How can we top this for next years conference???"
Sandra Stack - Retracom

"Fantastic performance! The performers looked, sounded and carried out the whole feel of the Faulty Towers program. Well done to the performers!"
Simone Harvey - IGA Distribution

“A truly new comedy festival encounter awaited my arrival at the Pumphouse Hotel in Fitzroy. This performance, which is travelling to various hotels around Melbourne through till the end of April, was more than just stand-up; it was more than a comedic theatre performance and it was certainly more than a pub meal. Fifty or so perplexed faces waiting expectantly outside the venue’s doors gave way to looks of sheer panic once it became known exactly what would take place in the subsequent two hours. And the basic premise is this: step inside the restaurant and you step inside the comical walls of Basil and Sybil Faulty and their hapless waiter Manuel. Whilst you try and consume a three-course meal, the trio of  comedic characters attempt, through both improvisation and skilled scripting, to bemuse, bewilder and baffle the audience through memorable antics from the famed television show, Fawlty Towers. All the fabulous frolics – from Manuel dropping plates and misunderstanding almost everything, to Basil’s gambling and secretiveness, and Sybil’s ridiculously high-pitched squeal – it’s all covered in two hours of fast-paced laughs and utter chaos.”

“Fiona’s stand-up is well-crafted and likeable and a series of sketches add substance to the show. A killer Celine Dion impersonation, musical comedy and funny anecdotes of outback family life, and you have a well-rounded, enjoyable hour of comedy.”
The Stage, London

Gary Edwards

“Thank you very much for a fantastic job on Tuesday night. I have heard nothing but praise for the whole event and particularly your performance. What people found most intriguing was your rope trick and the fact that you were able to keep the whole event running smoothly and for this I am very grateful. I hope that we can cross paths again in the future.”
Jo Gilbert, South Australian Dairyfarmers' Association – Dairy Industry Awards Gala Dinner, August 2007

Gentlemen Prefer Curves

"Sweet Adelines are not the easiest audience to entertain because we are an international organisation of women, every one one of whom sings and performs. So finding a guest act to meet our exacting standards and provide a change from our own barbershop music at our Adelaide Showcase of Champions was a challenge. However, everyone was absolutely knocked out by the girls of Gentlemen Prefer Curves ! Gentlemen Prefer Curves hit just the right 'note' of spicey humour, great audience rapport and fabulous voices. Their varied performance took us through the gammut of emotional responses, from crying with laughter to being arrested and surprised by the depths of feeling they touched in us. The fact that they themselves seemed to be enjoying things as much as we were added greatly to the synergy between them and us. We have no hesitation in recommending Gentlemen Prefer Curves to anyone who is looking for entertainment at a highly skilled and talented level, that also creates and enhances the 'common touch' with their audience."
Sandy O'Neill - Sweet Adelines Conference Co-ordinator

"Gentlemen Prefer Curves were superb, creating exactly the right atmosphere at our Conference dinner. They even managed to promote audience participation. All our dinner guests thoroughly enjoyed their show, so much so that the members of Gentlemen Prefer Curves ran out of business cards when they were besieged after the show. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Bravo!"
Andrea Lloyd - Grains Council of Australia

Geraldine Cox

"Geraldine is one of the world's most warm-hearted people.  She is also fearless and tireless and the orphanage, which now exists in politically easier times, was both born and survived entirely as a function of her vigour, generosity and humanity."
Ambassador John Dauth, Australian Mission to the United Nations, New York

"In speaking for the Asia Society AustralAsia Centre in Melbourne 2 years ago, Geraldine Cox took us through the process of establishing the orphanage, Sunrise Children's Village, in a way that was frank, engaging and inspirational. By the end of her talk, there were few in the audience who did not want to get up and volunteer their services immediately in helping her secure the means needed to support her children. Geraldine is also able to place her activities in the context of the dynamic and changing political and social environments of Cambodia, offering a clearer understanding of a country that has experienced so much tragedy."
Prue Holstein, Executive Director, Asia Society AustralAsia Centre

"There are a lot of decisions that she made, by her own admission, could be deemed questionable. You always see the motives that are behind what she's doing and her first priority is the children, you know, in the orphanage and she makes no bones about that, so I think that's really admirable.  She's not a saint, she's human. I was just incredibly moved by her and by her work."
Matt Damon, Hollywood

"The heroine at the heart of "My Khmer Heart" is such an astonishing, unpredictable, indomitable force of nature as to be wholly implausible, except for the fact she does exist.  Think of Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage, then add Mother Teresa, Hanoi Jane Fonda and the unsinkable Molly Brown.”
Kirk Honeycutt, the Hollywood Reporter’s head critic

"Her commitment in bringing awareness about the plight of these forgotten Cambodian children will never be forgotten."
Danny Glover, Hollywood

“What an outstanding story this is and what an outstanding woman Geraldine is and what an amazing path she has travelled."
Harry M. Miller, Celebrity Agent

“Geraldine Cox has an extraordinary and important story to tell - and she tells it very well indeed.”
Phillip Adams, ABC Journalist

"SMEC as one of Australia’s leading consulting firms is also proud to be involved with Geraldine and her work in Cambodia setting an example of how Australian businesses can have a human face on the international scene for such a worthwhile project. Geraldine was one of the principal guests at the inauguration of the SMEC Foundation in 2002 and was invited to speak at the recent anniversary of SMEC’s 10 year’s of privatization in 2003 and this high regard in which she is held by SMEC management is a reflection of her never-ending efforts to further her goals for the Orphanage and its children."
Leigh Shalless, Senior Project Manager, Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation

"I have known Geraldine for more than 30 years. She has never taken the easy way out. She has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to endangered Cambodian children and energy levels to match. Her story is one of courage and heartbreak, of hard work and love."
Michael Mann, President, RMIT International University of Vietnam and Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Cambodia

“Geraldine uses a big heart and openness, combined with subtle tact, to cross borders between cultures, which many peoploe do not even know exist.”
Warren Reed, former ASIS Officer and author of ‘Code Cicada’

“The orphans of Cambodia have a good chance with a mother like her.”
Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen

“She has the courage to believe she can make a difference.”
Peter Ustinov, British Actor

Gillian Rolton

"Gillian's presentation was extremely well received - the staff have provided feedback that her story was interesting, she spoke well, they found her inspiring and they admired her dedication."
Narelle Whitaker - Delfin Lend Lease

Glenn Cooper

"Glenn was fantastic. He kept the audience entertained with his stories as well as presenting some very interesting facts about the Coopers business and how they plan their marketing/sponsorship/advertising to compete with the other giants of the industry.  It was very relevant to a lot of the audience members as they were from small-medium wineries.  I'm sure they were able to draw a number of parallels."
Annie Mitchell - The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia

"Glenn Cooper brought a great case study to the conference and was able to demonstrate to the audience the importance of not losing touch with your people and the importance of branding your product. The presentation demonstrated that no matter how large your organisation gets, you can still maintain a positive culture."
Des Penny - Proteus Enterprises

"As one of the guest speakers at our recent Business Development Boot Camp Glenn Cooper's presentation was extremely well received by our participants. Glenn's annotation of his family history, advertising processes (in particular the key focus of their marketing) and general snippets from the daily running of a progressive South Australian business was "excellent value" for many fellow business owners."
Lyn Smith - LambertsBRS

Guy Sebastian

“From a publicity/pr point of view, Guy was great with the media and very professional to work with. He knew the key messages about the event, was familiar with his role and kept on track with messages. We have had a lot of feedback from guests, all saying that he was a natural as a host and was fantastic in that role. He was genuinely enthusiastic about the night which came across in interviews and when he was meeting guests, media, fans. Guy was a pleasure to work with.”

Heather Swan

"My legs are still shaking after your presentation today – it was life changing, so thank you very much. I loved the combination of actually seeing moments from your journey, and hearing the lessons you learnt along the way, and the inspiring quotes. Thank you so much for sharing your story as it is certainly jaw dropping."
Ruth Morgan

"What I loved most about Heather's presentation was that we not only got to hear her speak about her amazing experiences but we also saw real footage of them (as she spoke) which made you feel like you were there witnessing it first hand. Heather is an amazing woman and a fabulous speaker with loads of passion and energy. I couldn't help but rush home to tell my husband and two children about her story. I walked away feeling inspired and empowered!"

Housequake

“Housequake were fabulous! Every person at the function on Friday night has said the band were excellent, extremely entertaining. I have received nothing but rave reviews about them and would highly recommend them to anyone. They played a great mix of music that catered perfectly to our varied ages of guests and constantly had the dance floor full.”
Holly Old, Business Development Associate, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers

"The Sydney Swans have received some very positive feedback from the Swans Team of the Century Gala Dinner that was held in Melbourne on the 29th August 2003. All our guests enjoyed being able to sit back, relax and mix with legend players who were named in the Swans team of the Century earlier this year. We would like to thank ‘Housequake’ for their involvement on this night. It was a pleasure to work with members of a band that are both professional in manner and flexible to their client’s needs. Our guests certainly enjoyed each performance of ‘Housequake’, hitting the dance floor to dance the night away."
Grant Lowe, Event Manager, QBE Sydney Swans

"Just wanted to let you know I attended the Swans Team of the Century function on Friday 29th August at Carlton Crest and had the great pleasure of hearing "Housequake". They made a great night FANTASTIC. Please pass on my congratulations to all the guys, I don't know anyone who didn't think they were sensational. They had the place rockin' and even my husband got up and danced and that takes some doing."
Jackie Sandry

"Please find attached the media release which went out to all industry contacts and media early this morning regarding last night’s MIAA Victorian Awards. Housequake was fantastic and we would definitely use them again in the future and recommend them to industry."
Hayley Baxter, Branch Development Officer, MIAA VIC/TA

Illicit Eve

"These chicks from Adelaide know how to rock and how to rock hard. They've downsized to a duo since their 2005 debut Element Eleven, and it's worked for them. Like a cross between The Donnas, Sahara Hotnights and a rockier Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the girls have mastered the art of creating infectious riffs and seamless melodies. The tracks Shark Bait and They Don't Make Boys Like They Used To show their ability to rock it with the best of them, but the slow and subtle ballad Beautiful Creatures gives Into the Woods some balance and a touch of personality. Now's the time to bring on a series of headline live shows - if this CD is anything to go by, a tour would launch these gals into a different league."
**** (4 Stars) Andrea Beattie, MX Citybeat Magazine, 2008.

The hottest local rock duo to surface in recent years has to be the dynamic duo, Illicit Eve. Emily Smart (lead vocals and guitar) and Fliss Freeman (bass guitar and vocals) have been busily performing their own material around town for a couple of years and now, after the success of their first album, Element 11, they have released Into the Woods. For a band of two, they produce a big sound (with a little help from a few drummers, sax and trumpet players). Smart’s poetic lyrics connect with myths and fables. They fascinate, mystify and delight as they delve into the complexities of modern life. Smart belts out her songs powerfully with a voice that is rich and sweet and Freeman’s harmonies complete a unique blend. Illicit Eve plays good solid rock that is lively, funky and with a sense of frenetic fun. Freeman’s dexterous bass-playing drives numbers like "They Don’t Make Boys Like They Used To", making them very catchy. These two hot young talents really show off their diverse musical skills in "Beautiful Creatures", which provides a gentle, melodic change of pace while painting some sensual pictures. As they say in their opening track, "Sound", "this music is so addictive it'll rush through you". "Heavy Lung" is a fine finish, with its soft ethereal beginning, thoughtful words and compelling choruses. Illicit Eve’s rise on the local and national music scene is no fairy tale. Into the Woods should elicit an enthusiastic response that translates into a growing following, full houses and queues in record stores.
Independent Weekly, Greg Elliott 2008

Jean Kittson

“Our feedback is all positive - very happy with Jean Kittson.”
Association of Women Educators

She was terrific – perfectly pitched to the audience.
Australian Institute of Company Directors

“The feedback we've received is that your speech is probably the best post-lunch speech that they've had in a long time. That's high praise indeed for a girl! I am sure you knew how well received you were on the day, the response from the audience was unequivocal. It was an absolute pleasure having you here and I hope that you enjoyed the event as well.”
Australian Institute of Company Directors

“Ms Kittson is an absolute marvel! She agreed to take on the APSEA 2006 entertainment slot at extremely short notice. As a result, she was given only a very "brief" brief about this newly-emerging and complex industry. Not only did she entertain the audience (in fact, she had them in teary fits) but she presented an industry-relevant segment from an extremely funny and original perspective. She was clearly the highlight of the event. I am impressed with Jean's thorough professionalism - her ability to take on such a difficult task on such short notice is testament to her talent and commitment to her clients. I would have no hesitation recommending Jean - and, indeed, engaging her again myself! She is an outstanding entertainer and a delightful and charming person to boot. Thanks to Saxton's and to Jean for a job well done!”
Australian Spatial Information Business Assoc

“Jean was terrific. She is very personable, highly professional, extremely talented and most eager to be involved. Jean showed what a charming and highly intelligent person she is by staying well after her performance and participating in some of our activities the next day notwithstanding that she was accompanied by her children and Husband. Jean was very much appreciated by our delegates. Her booking was an inspiring choice, even if I say so myself.”

Jeremy Rolleston

"Jeremy is an inspiring, passionate and motivating speaker who was able to communicate and relate his story and the framework of successful people in a simple, down to earth and easy to understand way. Despite many setbacks he was able to be successful through his clear and focused approach to goal setting, both short term and long term. He is a great example of what can be achieved through determination, hard work and going after your dreams. My team was able to use the strategies discussed in the presentation in our day to day business whilst at the same time being challenged to live our own lives to the full and follow our own dreams.”
Adam Weale, Head of Dealer Group Distribution, Next Financial Limited

"Jeremy Rolleston is an inspiring and engaging public speaker. He presented in a confident and relaxed style, demonstrating an excellent balance between conveying a message and delivering the humour and personalised touch that connected with his audience. The response of the staff at our meeting to Jeremy’s presentation, both at the time and subsequently was fantastic. I have no hesitation in recommending Jeremy, whose capacity to talk in relation to sport, his own experiences, the importance of training, dedication, commitment and team work, is simply first-class.”
Philip Wade, NSW Marketing Manager, AGI

"Jeremy Rolleston is one of Australia’s most unique athletes, having played in the top tier of professional rugby and then switching sports to represent Australia in Bobsleigh at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino - where he steered the ‘green machine’ two-man bob to the equal best result in Australian Olympic history. No other Australian athlete has ‘packed down’ in professional rugby and then risked their life sliding through an ice shaft at 150km/h - and gone back for more. Jeremy is a first class motivational speaker, who presents with passion, excitement and a strong sense of pride and humility. He easily connects with any audience, large or small, to business people and children alike with his unique stories and energetic style. Jeremy offers a range of presentations and continues to work with the AOC, adding enthusiasm and enjoyment to many of our events."

Kate Vigo

“A little bit jazz, a little bit torch singer, a little bit pop, and a whole lot entrancing”
Herald Sun, HIT

“She sings with a maturity and timbre that belies her youth … a truly original artist”
Readings Monthly

“Kate Vigo’s vocals have a certain magnetism that draws you in”
Toxic Pete Music Review

“'The Way You Are' by Kate Vigo simply jumps out at you as soon as the intro kicks in - oh, and it don't let go either, it just keeps on gnawing away at you until you give in to it's hooky rhythmic way and then realisation kicks in that Kate Vigo is a special recording artist! 'The Way You Are' is a real 'smart' single; aimed at no particular popular marketplace but sufficiently all-encompassing to appeal to the masses rather than the few it's an extremely tasty, commercial offering from a lady with class and distinction.

Vigo's up-front sexy voice set against simplistic piano and coupled with some fantastic orchestration gives this song massive presence that should appeal to a very wide audience, young, old and in between. Vigo's voice sits somewhere within the area of refined soulful jazz and mature pop and she certainly knows how to get her beautifully vibrant 'tones' out to you! 'The Way You Are' (often known as 'The Doo Doo Song' for reasons that will become apparent) is a spankingly viable yet maturely conceived and passionately executed song. It's short and to the point but in that short time you really get the feeling that you know Kate Vigo and her wonderfully mature music.

Australian songstress Kate Vigo reaches out to you with 'The Way You Are'; her vocals have a certain magnetism that draws you in and, what's really smart is that, it all happens pretty quickly; Vigo, in just one concise but irritatingly infectious song, gets under your skin (in the nicest possible way!) and sets off an addictive reaction that's pretty scary. 'The Way You Are' is taken from Vigo's forthcoming second album which promises to be something a bit special if this song is anything to go by!

'The Way You Are' by Kate Vigo is poppy enough to be a stand-alone chart hit yet mature enough to ensure that those affected by her magical way look further into her recording repertoire - what a great tantalising teaser 'The Way You Are' is!! With its obvious leanings towards the more mature end of the market, 'The Way You Are' by Kate Vigo is laying down super-strong foundations here and once this single gets air-play I'm sure it'll have a knock-on effect such that Vigo will see an increase in album sales too. With its jazzy inflections and soulful heart 'The Way You Are' by Kate Vigo will find many takers from all walks of life - just a 'starter for ten' then, methinks - the start of something very big and very successful! Love it, love it!!”
Toxic Pete Music Reviews

“The superbly talented Kate Vigo is an indie pop singer with a pristine voice is set to release a second album and the single “The Way You Are’  is a sunny entrée, full of warm R'n'B vocals, unassuming piano, finger clicks and doo doos.”
Beat Magazine

“For a Melbourne girl who tours alternately with her own five-piece band, then the 12-piece Melbourne Underground Orchestra, ‘minimal-sounding’ is an unexpected hyphenated adjective to describe Kate Vigo’s music, but that’s just how The Way You Are reveals itself. Like a girl-next-door-been-rejected pop tune that’s spent hours miming to Kate Nash videos, it starts with naught but tinkling piano, pretty vocals and a flubber-bouncy doo doo doo doo making up the background. While never breaking out into a full symphonic explosion, string sections and horns do add to its barrow of instruments before the end. In the wake of Lily Allen, Britain has put out such an army of young, nice-but-mouthy-when-they-need-to-be soulful lady singers, it’s easy to imagine an unintimidated barrage of them (Allen, Nash, Adele, Duffy etc) walking arm in arm in a slow motion line a la the opening credits to Angel, ready to retribute every boy who’s ever done them wrong. Vigo’s doing a damn impressive job of picking up our local slack in this department, proving as vocally cute, vulnerable and potentially feisty as any of the above.”
Rave Magazine, March 10th 2009 Single of The Week (Kate Vigo – The Way You Are)

Kathryn's career is a great testimony of sheer drive and perseverance which has afforded her endless opportunities. Kathryn is a great speaker, very down-to-earth and personable. "Katrina was just brilliant. I was so impressed by the time she took prior to the presentation to ensure that her presentation tied in with our theme for the retreat... we would not believe how well Katrina was able to do this having not heard the previous presentations. Katrina was so polished and professional and we appreciate the extra time she took to speak with students at the end."
Shannon Warren - St Mary's College

"Katrina Webb has spoken a number of times at The National Young Leaders Day, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about her. She has always made time for us in her busy schedule, as she sees the value in contributing to the lives of Australia's future leaders. We have always received great feedback from both teachers and students who attend our event, that they have been inspired, motivated and encouraged from her presentation. Over the years, she has continued to bring a 'fresh' contribution, and her life is a great example of the themes she speaks about."
Ruth Strother - National Conference Co-ordinator, Halogen Foundation

David Fuller - Human Resources: Foods/Finance, Nestle

"Katrina's was one of THE highlights from the three-week ING International Graduate Programme. Her message was on target - sharing with the group of young, high potentials from around the world, that they can make a difference even in adverse circumstances. She immediately captured and engaged the audience. I also so appreciated that she wanted to spend time getting to know the group. She joined for most of the afternoon session (prior to her presentation), for dinner, and then spent time visiting with the group as they were working on a special project. She joined for breakfast the next day as well. Her authenticity and genuine concern came through. I would not hesitate in recommending her to others and would definitely engage her again."
Renée Yates-Enright - Project Lead, ING International Graduate Programme

"Katrina was very inspirational and got a standing ovation from everyone attending. It certainly lifted our event and gave our corporates who attended, I believe, that extra motivation and feeling of "value add". All the feedback I have heard about Katrina was extremely positive. One attendee thought it was terrific that she passed around her medals for people to hold etc. I personally was very impressed with the way she followed through on the briefing, had done her homework about Minda and linked her speech to Minda's core values of Inclusion, Respect and Choice."
Marion Zafry - Public Relations Manager, Minda Incorporated

"Just a quick e-mail to say a big thankyou for your talk last week to the GHD business school at the Hyatt in Adelaide. It made us look inside and take stock, look at where we were, where we all wanted to be and how we could get there as standing still is definitely a step backwards. Inspiring and energizing!!"
Rupert Duckworth - GHD Goldfields Manager

"Katrina was fantastic and thoroughly addressed issues identified for the group. Much positive feedback was received and several people have reported changing their daily activities as a result of Katrina's inspirational story "
Sue Harmer - Open Access College

"It was interesting to hear how her sports days were the start of her career in sport and how she related that to the possibilities that lie ahead for our students. The way she spoke about winning and losing was excellent, as was her advice about giving your best - something we encourage highly these days at the Hub. She had her gold medal with her, which created interest with many there. It was well worthwhile having her along and the feedback on engaging her was positive. I'm still hoping that the Year 6 and 7 teachers may get her back to the school for some further interaction in the future. You may hear from the school again. Thanks for your help."
Peter Murphy - Aberfoyle Park Primary School

"Katrina was fantastic! Her talk was exactly what we wanted. She arrived well in advance to prepare/ask questions etc and tied in a few local comments into her talk which won points with the audience. Those in attendance enjoyed the presentation and found it very thought provoking."
Meagan Carthy - Human Resources Administrator, City of Salisbury

"Just a short note to thank you for your moving presentation to our group last week. Your bookmark we received at the end of your session now holds pride of place in my work diary. Randall Coulthurst - District Banking Manager. Elders

She shares her story in such a way that people are motivated to get off their butts and have a go. Kylie Gillies

“Your co-hosting of the National Travel Industry Awards last Saturday night was nothing short of superb. In fact the plethora of positive comments that are now flowing into the office bear witness to that, and between us two, I think you have established a whole new fan base! I am very appreciative of the way in which you both kept the event moving along; injected humor and - to my personal amazement - kept the background noise level to the lowest that it has possibly been in years. In short you did a fantastic job for us, and I know the Board and I and Marie are very appreciative of the effort you made. If I may be so bold as to say so, you absolutely mesmerized many in the audience with your presentation/and the professionalism with which you carried the night off along with Larry has been the hallmark of the praise that we have received following the evening. The two of you comparing together were indeed a "class act" if I may use that term, and one which will be long remembered by the industry. Again my many thanks and I trust that we will have the chance to catch up again and work together again in the future.”
Mike Hatton, The Australian Federation of Travel Agents Ltd

Merri-May Gill

"Our night was a fabulous success thanks to Merri-May. General feedback from the group was that she was spectacular. Everyone was VERY impressed. Our whole group loved her facial expressions, lyrics, humour and the way she got the group involved in some of the songs. I have had the pleasure of seeing Merri-May perform now on two occasions. These two nights had completely different audiences and expectations. However, Merri-May's act was quite different from one night to the next as she adapted her show for suitability to the audience. What great flexibility she has and such a wide variety of talent to be able to entertain, the two groups that I have witnessed, so impressively and with such great success!"
Tina Thompson - Dixon Minsup

Michael Milton

‘Inspirational – best speaker I have heard in a long time.’

‘Very inspiring session. A lot of good learning that can be used in day to day business.’
CPA Australia Victorian Conference

‘Michael was a very entertainingpresenter, I found myself laughing several times. He is a true inspiration and made a significant effort to relate his presentation to Toyota employees. His casual approach made him personable and credible.’
Toyota Australia Comm’s Session

‘I thought Michael…would open the eyesof the players to the possibility that if they really want to achieve something it is hard work and mental toughness that will help get you there. I wanted someone with a story that highlighted that no obstacle should get in the way of achieving your goals. Michael's presentation definitely achieved these outcomes.’
Under 19 National Cricket Carnival Dinner, SA Cricket Assoc

‘As the project managers for a three-day Deutsche Bank conference, we needed a great keynote dinner speaker who could also lead physical sessions the next day to reinforce the workshop messages. Michael was perfect. He was entertaining, personable, motivational but, more notably, he took the time to understand his role in the overall project. He’d had a cycling accident the week before but even that didn’t stop him. As if skiing on one leg isn’t tough enough – Michael also had one arm in a sling. Great to deal with, wonderful to listen to and very talented.’
Jeff Bond - Lane 4

Michael Slater

“This was the seventh North Shore Heart Research function and Michael from the outset was the total professional. From the minute he walked in he was very giving of his time and extremely receptive to the many requests made of him throughout the afternoon. As a keynote speaker he worked very well with the master of ceremonies (Ray Seager) and had the audience captivated for the duration of his presentation. Granted that the audience was mainly corporate and had a vested interest in what Michael had to say but he was able to adapt his anechdotes to the guests very well. An extremely humble, considerate professional. Myself and all the team would like to thank Michael for adding a special touch of magic to the day.”

Entertaining - certainly, skilled and clever - absolutely and probably without peer - daring - the Uni-Cycle act held 100 festive drinkers speechless! And to finish people queued to speak to him. Talented and a nice guy to boot!"
Sam Ireland - Office Services Manager, Brock Real Estate

Natalie Cook

“The day worked really well, Natalie's roving commentary, having a break between games and the catering. There was an overall positive vibe and the day was still quite competitive, which was excellent. Thanks again for a most excellent afternoon. I will certainly be recommending Sandstorm and The Beach to my friends and colleagues”.
Shane Hackett, Brisbane City Council

“I had a great afternoon. Although a bit anxious about my complete lack of sporting ability and non existent level of fitness I was prepared to give it a go. It was fabulous and although completely exhausted that evening (best night's sleep I have EVER had!) it was a good exhaustion from physical activity. I had great fun and really enjoyed interacting with my colleagues in a completely different way then we do at work. You get to see people in a different light and I really enjoyed it. I think I spent the whole afternoon laughing. The food was also excellent and Natalie has a great relaxed way of running the show. She even managed to get me "High 5ing". Would and have highly recommended it to everyone.”

A/Prof Gishel New, Director of Cardiology, Box Hill

Quentin Kenihan

"Quentin checked out the Dinner venue with me, and after freshening up, made his way back to welcome the delegates during pre-dinner drinks. This is one area that I was most impressed with, as throughout his short stay, Quentin endeavored to meet every delegate and have a chat. At the dinner, he visited every table, some more than once. I don't think many guest speakers would have gone to this trouble with genuine interest and enthusiasm as Quentin provided. It was good to have 2 segments as Guest speaker, it balanced the dinner well, and people were not shy at asking questions. A number of wine gifts were distributed to those participants. Quentin's speech went down well, as did his impromptu answers. Toward midnight - Quentin and I had a go at singing 'Unchained Melody' to remaining diners. How he wasn't snatched up by Australian Idol - I don't know! The following morning after breakfast, Quentin visited the Conference area during morning tea and once again met with delegates and won more hearts. Thank you for arranging this special visit. Quentin is a wonderful gentleman with so many natural qualities."
Anne Oliver- 2004 NICAN Conference

Sophie Mibus - Manager of Marketing and Development, Annesley College

"Rachael Sporn presented an excellent speech relating her background in country Victoria through to her achievements in international womens basketball and 3 Olympic medals. She provided a recognisable link to leadership for younger people, and brought credibility through her exemplary record as an Australian sports person. On a personal level, Rachael is a quality champion who is most amiable and exudes the values that all Australians admire."
Geoffrey Carruthers - Convenor, Champions of the Bush

"Rachael was warmly welcomed by 170 netball & football players, spectators & officials. Her natural story telling ability deemed to be a winner with the crowd. Her sense of humour and funny anecdotes were what kept the crowd enthralled through out her speech. She spoke about her upbringing in a small country town, and enjoyment for that lifestyle, something we all could relate to. Rachael won over the entire crowd, a night I'm sure many will remember."

Thanks for your work in helping to organise this for the club, and our deepest thanks again to Sarah."

Spacejunk

"Thank you for providing your local and unique brand of music to the award-winning Brighton Jetty Festival on Sunday, March 13, 2005. Having heard your CD, kindly provided by Abby Edwards from Onya Soapbox, I was enthusiastic that a young Adelaide band with such obvious talent should be included in our entertainment program. The Brighton Jetty Festival is highly regarded in the area and is attended by 35,000 plus visitors; so there was an excellent opportunity for Spacejunk to be exposed to a big audience. As I mentioned, your stage was situated close to restaurants and open dining, and I was concerned that 'loud' music might be disruptive; as it sometimes has been at past festivals. However, not only did the patrons obviously appreciate your music, style and stage presence, so did the owners of the immediate restaurants and cafes. I received positive feedback, and non negative, that Spacejunk was original, funky, entertaining, stylish, and just plain 'great'. It's always a risk to book a largely unknown band that plays a lot of it's own compositions but I was very happy with Spacejunk and would definitely book you again. Thank you again for entertaining the crowds at the Brighton Jetty Festival with such enthusiasm and style; I hope you are able to be exposed to a greater audience - you deserve it."
Penelope Herbert - Co-ordinator of Brighton Jetty Festival

Stan Alves

“Excellent presentation, feedback from attendees indicated that Stan's presentation had a high impact of identification for them, as well as being motivated by him. Several of his topics were referred to throughout the day and people suggested it would be great to have him speak with their teams back at the refinery.”
Gail Field - Mobil Oil, Logistics Division

“We were delighted with the presentation you gave on our behalf to KPMG. We were so impressed we would like to see if there is an opportunity for you to deliver an expanded version of this presentation to our Melbourne Adcorp staff.”
Philip Fraher - G.M. Adcorp Australia

“The feedback from the event has been outstanding, with some of our members describing you as truly inspirational. It was clear you established an immediate rapport with the audience, which remained for the entire presentation. Your motivational and entertaining presentation was pitched very well at our members, and your commonsense subject matter was ideal for the audience.”
Giselle Grynbaum - Building Designers Association Victoria Ltd

“Over one hundred coaches attended the seminar and the feedback from all has been extremely positive. Stan was not only a well credentialed person to speak at such seminars, but his rapport with coaches at levels varying from Auskick through to senior football is exceptional. I was very impressed with his professional manner and his attention to detail to ensure that everyone who attended these seminars gained the maximum benefit.”
Darren Beazley - G.M. Tasmanian Football Development Football

“Stan's presentation made a huge difference to our conference. A number of our people have been moved to reflect on some very serious issues in both their private and business lives as a result of Stan's talk. He was well on brief, as well as encouraging to our people and we are very grateful to him – he made a difference.”
Donna Faulkner - Work Solutions, Gippsland

“Stan provided our forum with an exciting and animated presentation. He clearly had taken on board the information provided at our briefing session and relayed this knowledge back to the audience in a well versed professional fashion. The participants warmed very quickly to Stan's approach and enjoyed having a chat with him post presentation.”
Vincent Lewis - Big Sky Credit Union

Steven Trigg

"Steven Trigg delivered an excellent presentation at the Self Insurers of South Australia (SISA) best practice awards dinner in August. Steven discussed management of the Adelaide Football Club as a business, and focused on the management of players and their injuries, both on and off the playing field as major contributors to the Crows very successful 2005 season. The presentation was interspersed a number of witty of anecdotes concerning incidents that have occurred during the history of the club. Steven captivated the audience of 250 with his presentation, and I would have no hesitation in recommending him as a guest speaker at any similar function."
Darryl Turner - Manager, Self Insurers of South Australia

Take 5

"After catching a glimpse of Take 5 playing at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2004, I knew the long search for the 'right' band for our conference was over. The voices of Mike and Steve Foenander are brilliant; it is rare to find such talent. The infectious, smooth sounds of the bass, keyboards, and drums had even the most introverted delegate willing to dance! Both young and old were swirling on the dance-floor, and howls of protest were heard at the end of the night when the band finally had to pack up and go."
Jesia Berry - Australasian Epidemiological Association

Team Building

"Today's workshop was a success! FAlthough there was a small number, from all reports the participants thoroughly enjoyed Pete's songwriting workshop - especially having a recording of their own to show for their time and for their new skills. Parents were also delighted. Sincere thanks to you and to Pete for your involvement in this holiday program, and I look forward to working with you in future programs."
Joshua Spier - Community Development Officer (Recreation, Arts and Culture)

"The overall experience of the team building workshops was great. The magician really helped to start the session in a relaxed and informal manner. The tricks he displayed were captivating and cleverly done. All in all an entertaining start to the day which enabled people to relax and sit back to enjoy the experience. The session with Katrina Webb (Paraolympics Session) was very appropriate in illustrating how teams must build trust between ecch other and rely on another to get the job done. It clearly showed how hard it is to build this trust and reliance on others especially as you have to depend upon them to make it work. Thanks very much to you and the team Abby."
David H. Kinnear - SA State Manager, IBM Australia

Terry Hawkins

“I can honestly say that I have never seen a group of people become an inspired, cohesive team in such a short time. It is a great testament to your abilities that these people left the conference in a highly motivated state and continue to be incredibly positive about all facets of their job and family life.”
J.L.Lennard
Chief Executive Officer, J.L.Lennard

Head of Business Development, Travelscene American Express

"The feedback from your session has been universally outstanding. In all my experience of staff conference and team development I have not had a situation where there has been 100% positive feedback. You achieved this and more. Your message was underpinned by a strong values base which ignited the passion in our staff"
Cary Pedicini
State Director, Mission Australia

The Crush

“The entertainment provided by The Crush at the Riverland Wine and Food Festival 07 was sensational. The band were really entertaining and 'read' the crowd well, lifting the tempo of the festival to the point where the dance floor was packed and everyone was really enjoying themselves! Thank you for a great day.”
Emily White, Market Manager Riverland Tourism

“I've never really been into going to pubs to watch live bands probably because they've never stood out and shown that WOW factor but a year or so ago I saw for the first time this unbelievable band "The Crush." Not only were they great musicians but they played songs that I've never heard other bands even try to play! They play songs from every era and sound the same if not better than the original artists. I enquired about booking this band for a work show and they did not disappoint! We had all age groups at my show and everyone had the time of their life! I had calls days after saying how much they all enjoyed the band. I must say I'm hooked! And every chance I get I go along to listen to this amazing group. Keep up the great work guy's it's bands like "The Crush" that have made Adelaide come alive once again.”
Robyn Charman, Business Development Manager, Hunter Premium Funding Limited

“I am a player/member of the Flinders Park Football Club and we booked The Crush to play at our mid-season ball in 2006 – and what a great decision it was! They played a great variety of music which suited our club as we had people there aged between 16-50. So many players, supporters & members have commented to me how much they enjoyed the night – I am sure most of that came from the band as they had people up on the dance floor from the very first song to the last. One senior committee member who has been at the club for over 20 years said it was the best night he has seen at the club in his time there! We would not hesitate to have them back again next year!”
Jarrod Morris, Social Committee Member & Player, Flinders Park Football Club Inc.

“I was thrilled when you were available to play at my luncheon club event. Not hearing you play before making my booking but hearing such wonderful rumours about your band I just had to experience what others had already....I need to get out of the house more! What can I say......you are an experience! I discovered not only is your music so varied & fabulous even the most conservative people made their way to the dance floor to strut their stuff to that irresistible beat you guys express through your musical instruments. We loved you!
Personally, I would also like to mention your charismatic interaction with your audience is second to none. In my business to stand out from the rest you have to have that edge, that point of difference to be remembered....to all members of "The Crush" you have it!”
Sue Redman, TV & Radio Presenter; Owner & Host Business Luncheon Clubs; Promotions & Marketing Consultant

“The Crush rock! One of my all time favourite bands to work with - always deliver the goods, always keep the dance floor happening, always pick the right songs to play (and it doesn't hurt they're a bit cute as well ladies).”
DJ Hollywood, Horizons & Sol Bar Resident DJ

The Dolls

Reviews

Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2008
"The 3 Dolls live up to the name of their show, Freudian Slips. The singers and entertainers turn on a tightly scripted comedy and song routine that would make Freud slip in his grave.

As they say: "If it's not one thing it's your mother." The curvy Lissy, cute Charlotte and lissom Bronwyn come out literally in slips and cowboy boots, wielding continental cucumbers in unmistakeably phallic ways.

They have Andrews Sisters hairstyles and perform Andrews Sisters harmony, although the Andrews Sisters never sang Welcome Your Perversity.

There is a great band, particularly percussion from Rob Eyers, as the girls segue into female country music with a vengeance.

Their original songs are full of double entendres and disingenuous love and old-fashioned pashing on the dance floor. It's warm and enthusiastic entertainment."
Tim Lloyd, Adelaide Now

Adelaide Fringe Festival 2007
"Apply Freudian analysis to female country music with lashings of tongue in cheek and you have The Dolls in Freudian Slips, three smart women with great voices, a gift for songwriting and a show that comes close to tearing the house down..."
Louise Nunn, Adelaide Now

The Idea of North

"A cappella is sometimes thought of as being minimalist, but when you can sing and entertain like The Idea of North a band would just get in the way - such musicianship!"
James Morrison

"You haven't truly experienced music until you've heard Stayin' Alive done a cappella. The way this quartet tackled it, complete with in-sync disco dance moves, showed just why they are so highly regarded around the world."
Lauren McMenemy The Advertiser

"In terms of quality of ensemble and elegance of arrangements, this group's work is in the same league as that of The Swingle Singers in their heyday. On top of that, they incorporate a wry, deadpan Australian sense of humour that made their performance immensely entertaining."
David M. Schwartz, Sydney Cabaret Convention

"The Idea of North a four member a cappella group, were measured and absorbing. Like ABBA dipped in velvet, Trish Delaney Brown, Naomi Crellin, Nick Begbie, and Andrew Piper, were witty, in tune and certain contenders for an award."
Lenny Anne Low - Sydney Morning Herald 30 May 2003

The Liars Bench

“Some may see perfectionism as a failing but it's this attention to detail that makes “Caravan” stand out as one of the finest produced local albums."
Penni Pappas - Rip It Up

“For it's engineering and musicality, this is the best album I've ever heard to come out of South Australia.”
Martin Pullan - Edensound, Melbourne

“COUNT ON THE BIG BENCH! Eight people on the Gov stage at once. WOW! It all happened when The Liars Bench launched it's album “Caravan”….”
Lauren McMenemy - The Advertiser

The Satellites

"The Satellites, truly went off big time. Playing good time 50's Rockabilly, they had the look, the songs, the twangy vocal accents and above all the energy to make it all very convincing and leaving the crowd literally hungry for more. Brilliant!"
dB magazine: Big Day Out Review, Issue #2437- 20/2/01

The Soubrettes

‘Two young women dressed like 19th Century prostitutes… sing in sickly sweet voices something akin to a Grease soundtrack or an all-girl teen band. The incongruity of their girly voices with biting lyrics is hilarious’
The Age

‘The present darlings of Melbourne’s cabaret circuit’
Melbourne Herald Sun

‘The Soubrettes are not only great comics but also wonderfully talented singers’
Adelaide Advertiser

The Yearlings

"The Yearlings' previous albums have hinted at great things to come and Highway Dancing may just be it. From the opening title track, Robyn Chalklen's laid-back, fragile vocals effortlessly counterpoint partner Chris Parkinson, particularly when he takes the lead on tracks such as Will You Be Ready and Sheets of the Night. Impressive also is the songwriting, and Don't Feel Kind and Precious Time are standouts. The presence of guitarist Larry Campbell, fresh from producing Levon Helm's latest, Dirt Farmer, permeates the album, putting this Yearlings effort into another league. While the wider scope that additional musicians afford give The Yearlings a chance to spread their wings, the most obvious impression throughout Highway Dancing is the great time The Yearlings have had putting it together." 4 Stars - ****
Tom Jellett, The Weekend Australian

"The Yearlings took to the stage fresh from a recording stint in New York. Their well-blended voices and masterfully crafted songs such as Walk On and Sheets of the Night created a sense of ethereal gentleness. Sweet and atmospheric, this duo proved that you don't have to be from the US to capture the spirit of boundless Americana."
Donne Resio - Drum Media

"The Yearlings have once again come up with a beautiful, tender album of original tunes from Robyn Chalklen and Chris Parkinson. Fitting somewhere in between Gillian Welch and the Cowboy Junkies, The Yearlings are in the best handful of country roots acts in the country and on this their third album they have produced another cracker of a record.”
Dave Clarke, Readings

“The Yearlings express the lyrical truth of storylines about real life that poetically tug at the heartstrings…”
Jimmy Little, Living Legend

“Bony guitars, tales of lost friends, all imbued with harmonies to turn your spinal fluid into ice water…”
Jason Walker, Juice Magazine

"Utterly charming and horribly irresistible."
Tom Jellett, Weekend Australian

"If The Yearlings' debut was promising, this album marks them out as something special."
Bernard Zuel, Sydney Morning Herald

"Bony guitars, tales of bloody suicide and lost friends, all imbued with harmonies to turn your spinal fluid into ice water. Sparse, spectral and spectacular, this music will reduce the hardest heart to ashes."
Jason Walker, Juice Magazine

"A terrific album."
Jo Roberts, The Age

"The intimacy, authenticity and joy lift this album into its own, transcendent realm."
Sophie Best, The Age

"The Yearlings, together in unison and harmony express the lyrical truth of storylines about real life that poetically tug at the heartstrings."
Jimmy Little (Living Legend)

"The Yearlings' debut album was a surprising blow for freshness and quality... Robyn Chalklen and Chris Parkinson sing slow and sad, picking out tunes like a couple of prospectors gnawing away at the troubles of life."
Bernard Zuel, Sydney Morning Herald

"Consider me a fan. Bands like this donít come along every day, but bless 'em when they do."
Rip it Up Magazine

"I have been 'hanging out' for another one to play. I have a belief in this band and want to share their music with Australia."
John Nutting, ABC Radio National

"Like all the best lonesome songs, from Foster down to Townes Van Zandt, in the end it leaves you feeling you aren't so alone in the world after all."
Noel Mengel, Daily Telegraph

"My absolute favourite track, Bob and Chris's (aka The Yearlings) bluegrass duet of Raw Power. They turn the lyrics totally to their own purpose and it becomes such a hauntingly sweet and fragile bluegrass song that it alone justifies the dollars for this release."
Andrew Bunney, dB Magazine

"This is an excellent CD, great writing, playing and production, smooth but with just enough dirt on its feet and blood on its hands."
Skip Sail

"This is an extremely well thought out album, full of first-rate songs that read as well on the page as they caress the ear. It's an exercise in restraint and nuance that still excites. Most importantly, it's got soul."
Joe Bonanno, 3CR Radio, Melbourne

Tony Innes

“Your (Tony’s) presentation was timely, thought provoking and brought together in a clear and concise format the very topical and imperative messages on greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Your informative, open, humourous and engaging style and presentation has served to raise awareness, inform and generate discussion amongst staff in relation to the key messages. We appreciated your personable approach to delivering the presentation ensuring that what otherwise may have the potential to be perceived as doom and gloom set of facts, myths and misconceptions…is actually an inconvenient truth… and that small steps mean smaller footprints. Your approach was reassuring and encouraging ...”
Mandy Anderson – CEO, MIGA

Triplescore

"Triplescore were a big hit and proved to be flexible on the night! After the debate ran over time, Triplescore were happy to get onstage and play through for one big set (instead of their two smaller scheduled sets) to make sure the crowd got up to party. They even got an Adelaide personality up on stage to sing a song with the band which got the crowd cheering."
Sam Cocks - Urbantech Finance CEO (Book Smarts vs Street Smarts Debate)

"Triplescore was the perfect ‘warm up’ act for the Tour Down Under concert at Mawson Lakes featuring Guy Sebastian. Their music worked well with Guy’s set and suited the atmosphere we wanted to achieve at Mawson Lakes. Onya Soapbox’s involvement ensured professionalism made ensured things ran to plan on the day."

Troy truly brought the whole night together in a professional and funny manner. Troy has a rare talent of making everyone around him feel relaxed and happy. It was a delight to work with Troy and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for an MC. I look forward to working with Troy again in the future."

Kate Moffatt - Senior Consultant and Manager, Events - Michels Warren

"Troy recently presented a corporate video for POPE Irrigation we produced and he was an absolute pleasure to work with. Troy was professional and very easy to direct. Chad Hetherington - Managing Director, Logic Films

Adelaide Advertiser

"Anderson is among the funniest comedians we have..."
Sydney Morning Herald

Willson Sisters

"Regarding the Wilson Sisters - they were certainly entertaining! I really appreciated the fact that they catered their presentation to our audience of finance and accounting professionals, although it was not the background which either Lucy and Rebecca had themselves. They were able to answer even the most complex questions concerning succession planning. They delivered their session with good humour and the type of enthusiasm which can only come from firsthand experience."
Emily Jerome - Event Coordinator - Member Events, CPA Australia Ltd

Women with Standards

"Standards are what we live best by; and standards are also those songs tested by time. Here are four women with the highest standards - Naomi Eyers, Lee McAllistair, Melissa McCaig, and Libby O'Donovan - four vivid personalities, four marvellous musicians, making one great polished entertainment with broad appearl - blokes too. This is goosebumps night out, fresh, sexy, sensational, exhausting. This highly exportable quartet, supported by a nightclub trio of pianist Mark Ferguson, fine bassist Lyndon Gray and drummer Steve Todd, celebrates such standards as Blues in the Night, Girl Talk, Que Sera, Black Coffee, I Am Woman and the show's theme song, Respect - wittily and musically marking the political point that woman's love transcends all. We'd all be sapphists if we could. "
