Kate has been a passionate cook throughout the seasons of her life.  At the age of eight she ventured into her family kitchen to find a way to relieve school holiday boredom and within hours a layered coffee cake had been baked and decorated and a life-long passion for cooking inaugurated!

During a season of primary school teaching and a subsequent season of full-time motherhood she indulged her passion of cooking and shared it with whoever happened to be around her whether they be family, friend or complete stranger!  Her decision to enter Masterchef Season 3 in 2011 saw her come away not only with a vastly improved food knowledge but also as the winner.

Since then Kate has published her first cookbook The Sweet Life reflecting her love of desserts and baked treats.  She has a regular Country Cook column in Masterchef Magazine and has established her country-feel website where she hopes to inspire people with her motto: use what’s on your doorstep; share what’s on your table.  She has continued work in television, radio and print media whenever she has the opportunity and cooks regularly with hatted chef Michael Manners in her hometown of Orange.

Kate is establishing an online Kitchen Clubhouse as she sees a need to engage kids in cooking while they are interested and to teach them about where their food comes from and how to prepare it.  She still dreams of opening her own ‘Foodie Bed and Breakfast’ down the track … in another season of life!

Kate is a long-term supporter of TEAR Australia and her local Orange community and she enjoys her new role as ambassador for Heartkids.  Her other charity work has included Westmead Children’s Hospital Bandaged Bear Breakfasts and Western NSW Cancer Council as well as her local church and school.

A warm and engaging approach to people and a genuine love of sharing good food with whoever is around her, are Kate’s goal in whatever culinary circles she moves in.
