Combine slick beats and sassy vibe with vocal prowess and Jay Power is what you get. Her show combines a dash of dance floor beats, a hint funk and a splash of soul. Combined with her power packed live performances, Jay Power’s reputation as an Australian act to watch is well and truly justified.
Whether she is headlining festivals, playing in Australia’s most prominent venues or supporting some of the biggest names in the music industry, her magnetic and powerful performances draw the crowd and bring them to their feet.
Jay’s new album “The Missing” is the kind of music the soul singer is known for – with strong grooves and soaring vocals, this time though with an enigmatic twist that is best experienced live.
The album was produced by SIXFOUR music, who have also produced tracks for the Hilltop Hoods recent Aria Award winning album "Walking Under Stars" and Briggs latest album "Sheplife".
“SIXFOUR Music share the same musical influences as me – Neo-Soul, Hip Hop and crossover pop - so we really were on the same page musically. But they brought a more aggressive vibe and brought out the feelings and the passion in my songs, which I love.” Jay says.
In 2015 Jay has performed in the Spiegeltent for Adelaide Fringe, at Sydney’s Camelot Lounge and Melbourne’s The Toff in Town and Cherry Bar multiple times. In 2016 Jay will tour UK, France, Germany and Austria.
Making Jay’s live show all the more spectacular is her world class band.
On drums the uncompromising Stevie Cat Jnr, one half of the musical production duo Major Dudes, who are heavily responsible for the explosive live shows and arrangements of Grammy Award winning artist Kimbra. Stevie is the drummer and co-musical director for Kimbra and has also played for Australian legends Regurgitator.
And on lead guitar, Australian soul and Hip-Hop's ‘go-to-guy’ - Mikey Chan. Mikey is a renowned guitarist who has recorded and collaborated on many ARIA Award winning albums over the years and played alongside artists such as Roots Manuva, Jean Grae, Lotek, TZU, ILLY, Diafrix, Phrase and Kimbra.
“A collection of some of Australia’s most talented musicians were pulled together to create what can only be described as soulful poetry. The masterminds created the vibe allowing Power to reach a level most soul singers can only dream of – pumping out strong, layered grooves and allowing the roof-busting vocals to command everyone’s attention.”
