Pop U2

POPU2 performances are professional and dynamic, giving audiences an uplifting experience as they explore every facet of U2’s back catalogue. POPU2 will take you on an emotional journey through the great rock anthems and ballads penned by the band starting with well-loved numbers such as “One”, “Where the Streets Have No Name” and “With or Without You”, moving on to the latest rock releases including “Vertigo” and “Beautiful Day”.

POPU2 was formed in mid 2004 when four members of popular cover band “The Great Unwashed” (TGU) - Brett Doig, Mark Lockwood, Damian Murphy and Mikey G - realised their ambition to play and pay tribute to Irish super band U2. TGU had been playing in Adelaide and on rural tours since 1998 in one form or another, and the four lads having played several U2 tracks together over the years, decided to make something more of it.

The current POPU2 line up includes Ben Flett on vocals, acoustic guitar & blues harps, Brett Doig on guitars, keys & sequencing, Mark Lockwood on bass and Damian Murphy on drums.

Since 2005, POPU2 has been playing in various “Irish” pubs around Adelaide such as The Dan O’Connell and The Rat & Parrot. The band currently has a monthly residency on a Saturday night at Finn Mac Cool’s Irish Pub in Norwood and The Slug & Lettuce up north.

POPU2 has also played at the Koroit Irish Music Festival in Victoria.

"Pop U2 were a professional, energetic, charismatic band who entertained the crowd and got people up dancing as the race day drew to a close."
