Maggie comes from Glasgow, Scotland, and moved to Adelaide in 1999. She’s been involved in Theatre - musical and otherwise - for 22 years, and comedy for the past 10 years.
After performing at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2006 she enjoyed great success as one of the team who produced, wrote and performed the original 2007 award-winning Adelaide Fringe show “Titters!” which won the coveted Peoples’ Choice Award.
Subsequently she concentrated on her passion for theatre – both performing in “Chalkies”, “The Wedding Singer” and “All Shook Up” for Matt Byrne Media, and reviewing for Adelaide Theatre Guide.
Then late last year she was persuaded back to standup by her comedy buddies Kate Burr and Kehau Jackson for Fringe 2011 when they performed their smash sell-out show “Three Stuffed Mums”, which was one of five shows out of 750 nominated for the Peoples Choice Award. “Three Stuffed Mums” has also been nominated by the Adelaide Theatre Guide’s Curtain Call Awards in the category of Best Comedy – Professional.
Now she’s back on the standup scene with a verve and attitude fuelled by the blind panic of turning 50. She’s also started taking after-dinner speaking engagements, and with her strong Scottish accent she’s ideal for those Burns Suppers you might be organising.
She’s getting older and grumpier – now its time to start growing old disgracefully!
