Julia Morris

Comedy, Hosts/MC's, Media

The vivacious, talented, side-splittingly funny, super sexy diva of stand-up comedy, Julia Morris has done it all - appearing in award winning television, radio, and stage shows around the globe!

In 2008, after returning to Australia from a highly successful multi-media career in the UK, Julia, partnered with Australian Opera superstar David Hobson, took out the much heralded title of winner of the hit Australian Channel 7 TV show, It Takes Two. Being voted by the judges and public as most popular was also very beneficial to Julia's chosen charity, The Emily Tapp Foundation, who received a percentage of all the profits of the thousands of home viewer phone votes received weekly.

With many appearances on high profile Australian Television shows since she returned from the UK, it seems that Australia can't get enough of Julia Morris! A performer who is very much in demand since her return to Australia in 2007, Julia has appeared on such shows as Good News Week, Sunrise, Spicks and Specks, Rove, Thank God You're Here, The Singing Office...and of course her 10 week stint on Channel 7's It Takes Two.

Julia's run of shows at the 2008 Melbourne International Comedy Festival was sold out, attesting once more to the popularity of this much loved performer.

Originally, Julia became known throughout Australia when she appeared in comedy sketch show Full Frontal in the early nineties. This led to hosting roles on Great Aussie Bloopers, The Morris Report on In Melbourne Tonight and regular spots on Beauty and the Beast, The Midday Show, Who Dares Wins, and Good Morning Australia. During this time, she was also part of TTFMs breakfast team.

After dominating the Australian media in a variety of formats for 10 years, Julia moved to UK and quickly did the same - and more - in London, appearing on numerous British sitcoms, standup comedy, panel and quiz shows and entertainment news programs on both television and radio. She has even warmed up audiences for Absolutely Fabulous and The Kumars at No. 42!

She appeared on 37 UK television shows (hundreds of episodes), including Paul Whitehouse’s sitcom Happiness, Stephen Fry’s Q.I. and a stint hosting Liquid News, where she always displayed her dynamic style and easy going disposition as signature qualities. Her UK successes in comedy were recognised with a Herald Angel Award, Excellence in Live Performance in 2001 and a Time Out Comedy Performer of the Year Award in 2004.

Julia regularly tours the comedy festival circuit, appearing at festivals such as the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, Vodacom Funny Festival (South Africa), Just For Laughs (Canada), Letterman Showcase (Sydney), The Cracker Festival (Sydney), and The Melbourne International Comedy Festival. She has also supported comedy legends Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, Mark Curry and Ardal O'Hanlon.

“Your energy, wit and outgoing personality make you an absolute delight to talk to, both on and off camera.”
Rove McManus

“You'll be hard-pressed to find anyone funnier on this year's Fringe... when Julia Morris is in full verbal flow on a stage, it's as though Joan Rivers, Germaine Greer and Betty Boop are all living inside the same body. Phew, she's a scorcher.”
The Herald

“Morris's show is one long, blue, naughty, unrelenting paragraph, with punch lines flipped over the shoulder with a lift of a Jimmy Choo... if you've even the smallest funny bone it will spill you out into the night with a stubborn grin. I'm still laughing.”
The Scotsman, August 2003

“Breathless, glamourous, camp, snobby, self deprecating, gossipy, fast-paced, surprisingly barbed yet subtle with a stream of energy and material that is a lot stronger than her brash-but-catty style might suggest… with a delivery so relentless that you beg her to inhale, so rich with potential catchphrases you struggle to take them all in. It holds the audience who can’t afford to lose concentration for a split second for fear of losing something great.”
