Ria Loof

Ria has a multi-faceted career that blossomed from her natural passion for singing, dancing and acting at a young age. With her involvement in live and recorded music, theatre, visual and sculptured arts, festivals and live performance, she enjoys it all!

Having taught herself to play guitar she began her song-writing career in her late teens. Learning the craft of performing from knowledgeable musicians, led her to form numerous original bands over the years. She has toured parts of Australia and Japan and is still heavily active in the Adelaide music industry.

Ria also has become one of Adelaide’s most sought after backing vocalists, sharing the stage with artists such as Michael Buble, Daryl Braithwaite, James Reyne, John Schumann, Lisa Edwards and Amity Dry in and around Adelaide and nationally. Being a versatile entertainer she has also played leading roles in numerous musical theatre productions, cabaret corporate events and various other companies’ shows.

She has also been involved in many session recordings including work at Sony Studios and 301 Studios Sydney, and at many Adelaide studios for independent songwriters, jingle writers, numerous bands/artists and for herself with over a dozen albums of backing vocal recordings and four original albums/EPs. Ria has also been nominated in the South Australian “Samia Music Awards” for best female vocalist and for best female solo act.

Ria also enjoys acting and has appeared as an extra in “McLeod's Daughters” and in numerous student short films. Ria also featured in short film “Salvation Grey" and in a fake film festival mocumentary “Dial-a-dero”

Currently Ria performs in Adelaide’s “Motown Connection”, “Amity Dry’s Hepburn Band”, “Jay Hoad Band” and as a soloist. She is a Singing Teacher and Musical Director privately and for youth-based theatre company “Creative Souls", and works seasonally at “Nexus Multicultural Arts Centre” for “Adelaide Fringe festival” and at “Womadelaide”.

From past to present, Ria is a generous, entertaining performer with a voice that is captivating! She is always looking forward to the next chapter of her journey in the arts. The melodic story continues.
